Another Ezine Ariticle!! MINE!! Airsoft - Toys?
I recently wished to sell an Airsoft gun on a local on-line classifieds page. (an extra one I had on hand) I detailed the description, threw in a picture and shortly after submitting..To my surprise, My ad was flagged, refused and rejected.
I immediately went to the forum to ask why? (It seems his classified allows its viewers to flag and remove YOUR products.)
I was told, "It's a gun."
I replied "It is a Toy! My ad specifically said "Airsoft". Which means it uses Airsoft PLASTIC BB's. No bullets, No pellets, hence the word "Air Soft". " The same person tells me " It looks like a gun."
I'm dumbfounded!! Yes! Indeed it does. It is Suppose to!
Am I the only one in this world, that played with brothers who had Metal shiny Fake "pop" guns as a child? You know..the ones "without" the Bright orange tips and looking, very realistic?
We played cop's and robbers. You were the good guy..if you were able to play the cop! We would spend hours on end running around the neighborhood, hiding in bushes and behind trees...yelling stop or I'll shoot! Those were the BEST days! A guarded memory of a wonderful stable childhood.
Yes, Our society today has become a little different since "way back when". Our children now spend numerous hours on end sitting in one spot playing on computers, Home video games, which has been proven (in over exposure) to cause behavioral problems & obesity from the lack of exercise. But has anyone looked at what they are playing? A good majority of the time, its games of killing ..for others (play) money and prizes. (it isn't just pong anymore people!) Tell me what this "play" is teaching our children?
Airsoft comes into play, as the modern day, cops and robbers or the primal "hunting" game. Which Nobody gets "hurt". (yes if it hits you in the eye..it can hurt...but anything that hits you in the eye..will!)
Exercise with this gaming is defiantly a plus in today's "fast food" & convenience slammed world. Along with teaching our children to get along, share & "play right". Which, in my opinion are well needed skills for Adulthood. Airsoft is not being used to "rob" people, To cheat people etc. It is simply a game of modern day "cops and robbers." Or our primitive instinct of Hunting.
Being flagged and removed, made me wonder. Wonder how the slingshot (which can be more powerful than any airsoft gun), the bow and Arrow, or violent Video game offered for sale.. did not receive a flag or removal?. It made me wonder just what people in this day and age think is harmful to our children.
I have children (7 to be exact - teenage and older) Yes we have 2 video consoles in my home and 3 computers! I do not buy my children "real" guns, violent video games, etc. I do not allow my children to "hang" on the computer or video console. Computers are for homework, and an hour of fun (limited)..with parental controls. Video gaming is a timed "treat" for them to play when chores are finished, homework is done, and they "deserve." it. I am not "downing" video gaming, computers or any of today's technology. I am however wondering what has become of healthy everyday "PLAY". in our world. And why people would consider an Airsoft gun anything other than.. a Toy?

Tent Camping - A lost Leisure?
Many tent campers today are being outraged by the over-popularity of RV use along with prices of Tents and gear. Getting "back to nature" was considered by many to simply be a tent, a fire, and good campfire cooking, while connecting with nature on an up close and personal level. It was an inexpensive way to relax, rest and enjoy the amenities of this wonderful planet we live on.
Years ago, I personally could just grab my gear, head to one of the many "camping areas" within a 100 mile radius of my home and within minutes of arriving I was set up, tent in place & hunting firewood, and enjoying the sites and sounds of nature. As time went on, the "tent" areas began to lessen.
This past weekend, We decided a simple weekend "get a way" was in order. We carefully packed our car (believe me, not easy..its a tiny Toyota Tercel) with a tent, gear (such as a mallet for the stakes, bug spray, soap, etc) a cooler of drinks & prepared meals that easily cook themselves in a campfire and off we went..to one of my favorite spots which is about 150 miles from home. My favorite spot was always this little almost deserted spot by the Gulf that we would pitch our tent by the water, enjoy the scenery and take in the fresh water and beautiful sunshine. Upon arriving, The first thing I noticed was the road was now paved,..and as we pulled into this campsite, I was shocked! There was no possible way to see the water, let alone walk on the beach. The beautiful scenery & beach were now full of RVs blocking any nature left. There was absolutely NO set area for Tents.
So taking things in stride, we left there in search of another camp ground. We called almost every place we knew of , such as "springs" "state parks" etc. Only to find they were booked or did not support TENT camping any longer. We ended back at home due to daylight with nothing more than car lag. The next day we were determined to find a "spot". We searched the Internet, called many to find the same story , or extremely High prices (50 a night for a camp spot?) some charged you not only outrageous prices, then want to charge you if you make a campfire, or use one of their grills, etc. Until 1. We were thrilled! They took Tent campers, they had spots open, "just come on in" they said. So we did. Looking around I saw Nothing but RVs. and No tents, figuring they must have a tent area somewhere on the grounds. We paid for our 1 night stay, was given a numbered spot and a map. We were placed "squeezed" in between 2 RVs. Surely this must be a mistake...we traveled around the campgrounds, not 1 fellow Tent camper anywhere on the grounds. We took what was given to us and proceeded to camp in what seemed like someones back yard. It seems this park has RVs that spend a good portion or possibly All year parked. We were the ONLY ones awake with a campfire, at 8:30 pm. With absolutely No scenery, etc.
I along with many other "Tent campers" am extremely upset over the lack of "Tent" camping. Don't get me wrong, I am all for the RVs. They are a great way to see the country, without the expense of motels, restaurants, etc. It is not the RV owners that tent campers are upset with, It is the lack of tent areas for us. It seems the camping parks and areas make a little more money off of RVs per night than tents, so Tent campers are being pushed out, to make room for RVs. Not allowed to "camp" or pay a hefty price for the privilege.
So rears my question Tent Camping - A Lost Leisure?

Welcome Everyone!!
My name is Suzy and I am co-owner of A&S Direct. (www.AandSdirect.net)
Yes the S. in A&S hehe!
I want to talk a bit about our company.
We created this company for the average everyday consumer. (its about time someone did huh?)
We simply had our share of poor customer service, waiting weeks for a product to be delivered, never getting a response to questions via email, and simply had our share of uncaring faceless, companies who wanted your hard earned cash..for merchandise which they present as Quality, yet when you get it in your home..its shabby low quality reproduction.
SOUND FAMILIAR?
So we created A&S Direct. With the average "Joe" or "Jane" in mind.
High Quality: We research our suppliers "before" we allow products on our site. We only sell items "we as consumers" would buy. Definitely Not shabby or reproductions. So we can indeed live up to the first part of our Logo...High Quality Products.
The other part of our Logo is "Reasonable Prices"
Now , just what is "reasonable"? To some, its Dirt Low prices.. to others its better than the "other guys" prices..and to others its, "I can live with that" prices.
To us.. When we say Reasonable prices.. its simply, the old saying . "You get what you pay for!" We are not here trying to be the next "Bill Gates."
or even close. We are Not here to "rip off " anyone...as I said before, and I'm sure you can relate, We've had our share !! We try our best to provide Good old fashion, well produced, high quality, items at decent prices for our consumers. Nothing more, Nothing less. And with that being said: we can live up to our 2nd part of our logo: Reasonable Prices!
I'm sure everyone has had their fill of people talking about today's economy. So I wont blog much on this.. just a few words. We have felt the crunch as everyone else. I know..I do my homework before going to the store, for groceries, school supplies, (yes we have teen children..but that's a whole other blog! ..haha) or anything before I spend my hard earned cash. I look for the sales, I search for the best prices..for the things I need or want.
Yet I want to get what I pay for. Buying a bag of apples with 2 or 3 rotting away for $1.50 at a grocery store verses buying a fresh bag of apples at the farmers market for $2.00 is just not a bargain.. I'll go for the Fresh Quality apples each time..since "i want to get what I pay for". So the moral of this story.. is Shop around.. I encourage it!! Then check us out!! If you can find the exact thing you are looking for..less expensive than what we have it for..then BUY IT! Hec..I would! lol Everyone has a good sale ..here and again. But chances are.. you will not find it less expensive.
If you do find something outrageously less expensive than us.. (for the same identical item that is..) please contact us. We try NOT to "rip you off".
It can simply be a typo. or a manufacturer lowered their price..and we didn't catch it!.
Which reminds me... Customer service.. I must touch base on this.!!
You have my promise!! You will receive the very BEST in customer service at our site. Have a question..Write us.. you will have a response within minutes in most cases..but within 12 - 24 hours. We have our times, items are "out of stock" without our knowledge..(yikes ..yes I said it..sometimes we miss it..we are human) In cases like this..watch this woman bend!! Completely backwards in resolving the matter. Either by replacement of your choice ..always the same value or above, a short waiting period (when things come back in stock) or a full refund..along with a coupon for Savings. (these vary..but normally a gift certificate for $5.00 good for anything in our store) yeah ..we cant give stuff away.. just take the hit..lol
In finishing this Long and drawn out blog of mine.. (yay shes done)..
I Thank You for reading!! I can truly say we appreciate you!! Check us out.. Sign up as a customer.. (no way do I give out your personal info..nor your email) and Visit often!! We are always adding more products (daily)
and doing our best to please!!
Have a Great Day!!
Suzy
